I am so bummed that these pictures didn't come out well. I don't think they in any way show the holo awesomeness of FYI. I'm not really into gold but this is a gold I like. Not to yellow, not too brown. It's a perfect truly neutral light gold with incredible holographic shimmer in the sun..... Lame sauce that it didn't show in my pictures... Whatev, definitely recommend this one.

Hello Nail Polish Lovers,

It feels like I haven't posted in forever. What can I say? I've just been so damn tired lately. And for no good reason, I haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary...whateva. I recently purchased Essie Lilacism on a trip to the nail mecca. They are now carrying the Essie line.

This last picture was taken indoors with flash. The other photos were outside no flash. I would say the color is less blue and more purple in real life. It took 3 coats to even out the streaks followed by 1 thick coat of Poshe. My nails are super nubby because a few broke so I had to cut them all down : (.

And now for some randomness.

I am HORRIBLE at putting things together but I found this bookshelf I wanted and a small desk and I put them together with my daughter Sara. No help from the hubby, and I bought my own screwdriver set. Go me.

MAC & Liberty of London's Blue India

I was out shopping with a friend Saturday and I stopped by the MAC counter at Macy's to check out the new collection. The packaging is beautiful and all of the colors look like spring! It was a sunny day here today and it almost feels like winter is over. I can't wait to start wearing some bright colors. Not that I don't love my vampy colors too....

Anyway, this polish does not look like any other color I have, based on swatches I have seen it looks like it might be close to a RBL color but I don't have any of them so I'm not sure. (Lemming for Grunge and Stormy...) On to the pictures:

This is my first MAC polish. I was worried about the application because of all the things I have read on other blogs about MAC polishes being a streaky mess. After the first coat I was worried. I had massive bald spots and the color was unevenly dispersed. I added the second coat a little thicker than the first and it evened out perfectly. I LOVE THIS COLOR! It looks blue in some light, gray in others. I would call it a dusty teal blue. Tip wear is showing in these pictures and I have only had the polish on for about 24 hours, and I got a small chip last night before I went to bed so that sucked but the uniqueness of the color makes it worth it. I know I will be wearing this one again and again.

China Glaze Moulin Rouge

I bought Moulin Rouge when I drove out to the nail mecca in San Jose. It wasn't one that caught my eye when shopping online but when I saw it there in person I needed it! It is a hot reddish pink with multi color micro-glitter. Unlike some of the other China Glaze glitter polishes, it is not chunky or rough in finish. Don't get me wrong it is a glitter so the finish is not smooth but one coat of Poshe and the bumpiness was gone. I normally have to do two coats of Seche Vite to make the glitter polishes smooth.

I don't think these pictures do this polish any justice. It is so summer looking, I bet in full sun it's even more amazing. I think this was one of the 50 special glitters collection but I'm not sure. If you are not a glitter lover you may still want to grab this one. It's not an "in your face" kind of glitter. It's sparkly enough to be fun but tame enough to wear even if you like a more conservative look. Personally, I love glitters, creams, holographic polishes and everything in between, each for their own reasons. What do you think?

China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and Konad Success!

I decided that I love yellow, that being said, I have yet to find a yellow polish that was not a royal PITA to apply. While I LOVE the color of Happy Go Lucky, it was thick and difficult for me to work with. I was disappointed because I read so many other blogger's posts about what a great formula this was and it was so easy for them to apply. I used 3 coats and there were still a few nails that did not look even to me. I'm going to try to add some Seche Restore to it and see if that improves the application. The color is so pretty I think it's worth a try.

Also, I decided to try my Konad stuff again. I did order some of the special polishes to see if they worked better and I'm to say that it was my first Konad success! Granted I only did it on my thumbs but I was so pleased that I was able to get the image onto the stamper and then onto my nails. I do still think it's a lot of work, but maybe with practice it will get easier for me.

The yellow is taxi cab yellow. I love that it is so different from all of the pastel yellows out right now.

LA Splash Golden Seahorse

I went to ULTA last weekend to browse for a gift for my friend's birthday ( i know a likely story..) and I found their new LA Splash display. They had several unique colors and they were on sale for buy one get one %50 off. I got 4. The first one I tried was Golden Seahorse. It's a light sea-foam green with bright gold glitter. The bottle is small and rectangular in shape. The brush is meh and the consistency was a bit thick but it was relatively easy to apply. I used two thick coats on my toes.

See the bright gold glitter? Love it!

I really like this color, I'm imagining what it would look like with a tan. Come on Spring!!!

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I stumbled upon a nail mecca on yelp. I read the reviews that said this place had OPI polishes for $3.80 and China Glaze for $2.75...not to mention the Orly's at $3.25 and New York Summers at $.75...yeah I was skeptical. I thought they might have a few, but nothing current and I anticipated it being disappointing but I was going to make the 30ish minute drive and check it out. So I get in my car and head over to the south bay. It was raining and I drove right past the shopping center, had to make an illegal u-turn and circle back in to this little Vietnamese shopping center. The store front looked small and I would never have thought to go in there had I not read about the place.

It was small but OEMMGEE it was nail polish HEAVEN! They had every current collection by OPI, Orly and China Glaze! The prices were unbelievable. China Glaze was $2.75 each but if you purchased 10 or more price dropped to $2.50. Yea that's right $2.50!!! I think I got 15(ish). OPI's were indeed $3.80, Orly's $3.00 and New York Summer $.75. The people were so friendly and told me to ake as long as I want, try anything out and they even gave me lists of all the polishes and where I could find them in the store! I was in there for well over an hour. I found some great discontinued colors (OPI Kinky in Helsinki!!!) and some hard to find colors like OPI Firefly and a China Glaze color called Doll House (squeee!)

They told me to come back next month because they were expanding and they would have even more polishes out! Needless to say I will be visiting regularly. On my next trip I will be taking the camera as they said they would love the free publicity. If you are in the Bay Area California or planning on visiting YOU MUST COME HERE.

~Paper Chasing Mermaid In A Tiff~

Swatches of some recent purchases with names I could tie together in a funny way...

First up is China Glaze Paper Chasing

~ Love~

This one is outdoors in natural light. I decided to add a coat of New York Summer Lime Glitter on the ring finger just to see how it would look. I flippin' love Paper Chasing and I can't believe I didn't buy it before now. It's a little bit brighter than primary green, super shiny and the formula on this one was perfect. Not too think or thick, two coats was adequate but I went with three cuz that's just what I do.

Next up are Nina Ultra Pro in Mermaid and In A Tiff:

Mermaid is an odd color. It's extremely sheer and the color is a yellow green shimmer that flashes gold, green, yellow and pearl. I put 5 coats on my pinky.

In A Tiff is Ultra Pro's take on the Tiffany blue polish trend.. It has a slight shimmer which makes it different from all of the other polishes I have in variations of the same color. This is 3 coats no top coat.

You can kinda see the shimmer and flashes of gold and pearl in this picture but it was very difficult to capture on the camera.

Ummm yeah, I screwed up the polish on my index finger trying to make my hand not look so damn awkward in this picture. I always feel like I don't know how to place my fingers on the bottle and let's just say I'm not the most graceful of creatures so yeah, this is my awkward hand pose : )

Here is what Sephora's web site said about OPI 212:

I purchased this from the Sephora web site in December. I don't see it there anymore, I wonder if it's sold out now? It literally looks like a night time cityscape, the charcoal base is accented with shimmering glitter that looks like the twinkling lights of skyscrapers and starry skies. It reminds me of what the city looks like from an airplane at night.

Again I apologize for the less than perfect application, but hey, you're here to see the color not to revel at my stellar polishing skills. If you can find this LE polish I highly recommend grabbing it while you can.

$OPI Absinthe Makes The Heart

There are only two polishes from the Sephora by OPI line that I liked enough to actually spend the $9 on. One was $OPI 212 and the other is this one:

It is a beautiful olive green with gold and silver shimmer. Definitely more gold than silver. It's metallic but not as fickle with application and I had no problems with brush strokes like I do with other metallic polishes. The first coat was sheer, it took three pretty heavy coats to get the coverage I wanted. I topped it with 1 coat Poshe quick dry top coat. I love it, it is completely unique and I have nothing similar in my collection.

Do you think there is another MUST HAVE from this line? One that you think is worth the $9 and a trip to Sephora?

OPI My Private Jet Original Holo Version (evilbay purchase)

So, I purchased the MPJ polish at a random beauty supply store in a mall and while I liked the color I was definitely not impressed with the holographic shimmer. I was still happy I purchased it and I wore it for 5 days ( umm that's a long time for me)

I read on several blogs about the differences between the new release and the original release and decided I would try to acquire an older version. I found a listing on ebay for what the seller said was an original version of this polish. The price was $19.95, free shipping (umm not really free because the polish is $20?) whatever, I ordered it. And I can definitely say that there IS a difference in the formula. I don't have a picture of the new MPJ on my nails but here are the pictures of the "old" MPJ that I got on evilbay...

Right away I could see the difference in the polish by looking at the bottle.....

Final words on this polish: I'm glad I bought it, inflated price and all. It is beautiful, it goes with everything, it is my go to color. I don;t know if I'd pay more than $20 for it...

Stash Pics

I decided to rearrange my nail polish displays so i thought i'd post some stash pictures. (I love looking at people's stashes but if you don't feel free to skip this post.)

I have two clear acrylic 90 bottle wall displays mounted in my bedroom. I kind of stacked them on top of each other. They are not centered on the wall because my house is old (1953ish) so the studs in the wall are not evenly spaced? IDK anyway here are the pictures.

Ice, Ice Baby

I'm about to take this polish off to try my new OPI My Private Jet that is supposed to be the original version (found it on ebay, I'll let you guys know if it's legit..) but I wanted to take some pics of this Pure Ice polish I got from Wal-Mart. I read about this brand on various blogs and discussion boards but every time I go to the Wal-Mart close to my house they are sold out and the rack is completely empty. On my last trip they happened to have this one (Dreamy) sitting all by itself UNDERNEATH the rack, like it fell off and nobody saw it so I snatched it!

Sorry about the lighting, I was racing to catch the last of the sunlight in my backyard...

This is three coats with SV on top. The color is a pinky coral with multi color micro-glitter. In the sun you can see the shimmer of the rainbow glitter but it is definitely not in your face, it's subtle but noticeable if that makes sense. It is not opaque, I can still see my nail line. I mean not a lot but it's visible. I liked it despite it's sheerness. It was not gritty or goopy. It was a little runny but very easy to apply. I'm looking forward to trying out more of these polishes when I can find them in stock.

Is it just me or is this week a$$ dragging? I didn't have Monday off and it's only Wednesday? I'm ready to be done with work this week already!

OPI Let Them Eat Rice Cake & CC Rule Breaker

I ordered OPI Let Them Eat Rice Cake after seeing several posts on other blogs about the "Mannequin Hands" trend. I really didn't think I would like something so blah looking but I have since changed my mind. The formula for this polish was a little tricky to work with. The first two coats we very uneven, by the third coat it looked opaque but still a little streaky. The Seche Vite top coat evened it all out and I wound up being very happy with the end result.

Weird outdoor lighting...

Color Club Rule Breaker applied like buttah, very smooth and perfect in two coats. It dried quickly and was very forgiving of my less than steady hand while applying. The green is rich and vibrant, it's shimmery and metallic. I'm thinking of layering Sinful Call You Later over this for St. Patty's Day.

I love green!

Icing's "Johnny Awesome" and Konad FAIL

I really like the color selection of Icing nail polishes. I recently was at a mall that had an Icing store and I purchased several bottles (they are perpetually on sale). I loved this color but the formula is crap. I have yet to purchase one without a thick almost goopy consistency that needs to be thinned out after opening the bottle. What is that about? The colors are worth the process of having to thin it out with Seche Vite restore but it's kind of a buzz kill to have to alter a brand new polish because of the consistency. Has anyone else had the same issue?

This is a konad FAIL. I used Color Club Revvolution as the stamp color. I purchased the konad stuff in December, I have tried it I think 3 times and failed EVERY time. I think I am too slow or something because I have issues getting the image clearly onto the stamper and then half the polish is dry so the impression on my nail is like missing part of the design. Do I really need to cave in and just buy the special polishes??

See what I mean? The image is not clear at all.

OPI DS Reflection

So I fell in love with this color when I saw it on Scrangie's blog and I could not wait to get it. I am disappointed that this color does not look good on me at all. It makes my skin look sallow : ( I think I will try again when summer comes and I have a bit of a tan. The color itself is beautiful, the holographic shimmer is fabulous. I just wish it was more flattering on me.

China Glaze Peachy Keen

This is a bright pastel peach that borders on orange sherbet. Indoors it tends to look rather orange but in natural light is decidedly peach. Smooth application and no problems with streaking.

This is just a quick picture of 2 coats Milani Garnet Gems over OPI Thrill of Brazil right before I took it off. I hated, yes HATED, the Milani polish. It was a runny sheer mess. When I put it on my nail alone it was black with barely visible red glitter. It took a million coats and still looked like $#!&. Layered over red it was better but not by much. Not a fan. If you were looking for this polish my advise is to skip it!

OPI Red My Fortune Cookie, Jade Is The New Black , Lucky Lucky Lavender

This picture does not show the brightness of Fortune Cookie, it is a vibrant hot red. Jade is different than I was expecting, but in a good way. It is dustier than it looked online, completely unique, I think I need 4 back-ups. Lucky Lucky Lavender is creamy and very shiny.

I LOVE all things Wizard of Oz. I was browsing on evil bay and found these amazing altered art necklaces. They are beautifuly made and so unique, I think I need more. The seller name is sweetheartsinner, check her stuff out!

All of the shadows are amazing. They are extremely pigmented and the glitters do not have a ton of fallout ( I HATE FALLOUT!) There are two 24/7 eyeliners and a primer potion in this set. I ordered it from the UD website and am soooo glad I did. At $52 it is kinda spendy but worth every penny! They are selling out everywhere, I highly recommend that you get it while you can. If you were on the fence before now, GET IT.

Just for fun, Anna did white polka dots on China Glaze High Hopes. I think this came out super cute!

This is 2 coats OPI Thrill of Brazil. This was the smoothest easiest to apply red that I have ever used.The wide brush make it easy to cover the nail in three strokes, the color applied evenly and dried bautifully with a thick top coat of SV. This is my absolute favorite red ... still lemming for OPI Vodka and Caviar. I can't find it in any store!
